How to use Coconut Milk on your skin.

You’ve probably seen that our tagline is EAT. DRINK. NOURISH.

The definition of NOURISH is “to provide with the materials necessary for life and growth” according to the Collins English Dictionary (if you are as old as me, yes, that’s the giant book we all had back at school 😂).

You can nourish your body, from the inside (with good food) & from the outside (with kind, gentle skincare products) & you can nourish your soul too! You may have noticed that we give suggestions of how to use our products in a nourishing way on the packaging. Sometimes it’s literal, sometimes metaphorical!

The NOURISH on our Great Taste Award winning cans of coconut milk is: “add it to a bath for a luxurious moisturising experience.” Yes, we suggest you bathe in it à la Cleopatra! She apparently bathed in donkey milk, which is not exactly readily available these days, so I’m here to tell you why our coconut milk is a great option instead.

We all know that coconut oil is one of the beauty world’s most effective natural ingredients. It can be used as cleanser, moisturiser, hair mask, etc. etc. But did you know that the benefits of coconut milk for your skin are arguably just as good as the oil!

One advantage people find of coconut milk is that it is a lot less greasy than coconut oil. It is generally safe to use for all skin types & can be especially soothing on dry or mature skin. Some people suffering with acne have found coconut milk to be beneficial, & the cooling & soothing benefits are great to help heal sunburn!

So how can you use coconut milk as part of your skincare routine?

  1. In the bath.

Simply add 1/2 to a full can of coconut milk as you are running the water. You can optionally add your favourite essential oils &/or some Epsom salts.

  2. As a cleanser.

Just like coconut oil, coconut milk works as an effective cleanser, removing from pores while nourishing the skin. It’s a great option to remove makeup if you find coconut oil too greasy. Simply massage into your skin for 60 to 90 seconds & the rinse it off with warm water.

  3. As moisturiser.

Simply dab coconut milk onto dry skin, face, hands & body. It’s especially good to apply & leave on overnight for the full nourishing benefits. It’s especially good at calming any redness or irritation.

  4. As a mask.

Why not try making your own sheet mask? All you need is a piece of thin cotton fabric. Soak it in coconut milk, drape it over your face, & sit back & relax!

  5. Face scrub.

Simply soak a tablespoon of oats in coconut milk for 15 minutes or so, then use as a face scrub.
